VanEck advisor Gabor Gurbacs believes that unit bias psychology is one of the hidden benefits of the coming Bitcoin ETFs.
Unit bias describes how investors are more likely to invest in whole units of something rather than fractional ones. This is due to a psychological tendency to prefer the perception of owning a complete asset.
Put simply, owning a full share feels way better than owning 0.0001 of something.
It’s just the way humans are wired. 🤖
In fact this has been a long standing debate in the Bitcoin world.

LARGEST GAP EVER 😲
Today we’ll be taking a look at the Long / Short-Term Holder Threshold.
Here’s how this metric works:
🔴 Short-Term Holders (STHs): coins that have been held for less than 155 days
🔵 Long-Term Holders (LTHs): coins that have been held for more than 155 days
🟥 Short-Term Holder Cost Basis: all coins purchased in this price range are STHs
🟦 Long-Term Holder Cost Basis: all coins purchased in this price range are LTHs
The amount of coins held by LTHs continues to sit around its all-time high.
As of today, 14,896,468 Bitcoin are in the hands of LTHs.
Whereas the amount of coins held by STHs is only 2,383,168.
This is the largest gap between LTHs and STHs that we’ve ever seen in the history of Bitcoin. 😱
However, since December there has been a slight downtick in the amount of LTHs and uptick in the amount of STHs. (when LTH coins are sold they become part of the STH again)
Some LTHs clearly wanted to take some profits… 🤑
Which makes sense when you remember that Bitcoin ended 2023 up over 150%…
Regardless, long-term conviction in Bitcoin remains extremely high. The perfect set-up for a demand shock (Bitcoin ETFs) combined with a supply shock. (Bitcoin halving)⚡️
