SUPPLY SHOCK? ⚡️

BREAKING: Businesses are absorbing Bitcoin 4x faster than it is mined

BTC

Bitcoin’s shelves are going empty.

Businesses are sucking up BTC nearly 4x faster than miners can replace it.

River’s latest data shows companies are buying 1,755 BTC per day in 2025.

Layer in ETFs at 1,430 BTC/day and even governments at 39 BTC/day, and the math is brutal:

~3,200 BTC bought daily vs just 450 mined.

River

That’s a structural supply crunch in the making.

And as you know, corporate treasuries are driving the charge.

Firms grabbed 159,107 BTC in Q2 alone, pushing business holdings to 1.3M BTC.

And Michael Saylor’s Strategy?

Still the king - sitting on 632,457 BTC by itself.

As author Adam Livingston put it, Saylor is “synthetically halving Bitcoin” with his buying spree.

River2

And this isn’t retail FOMO. Strategy’s treasury officer says their buys are routed OTC to avoid jolting markets:

“We’re actually buying Bitcoin around the clock. Almost every day, every hour, every second we are in the market… Bitcoin’s trading volume is over $50 billion in any 24 hours - that’s huge volume. So, if you are buying $1 billion over a couple of days, it’s not actually moving the market that much.”

Strategy’s corporate treasurer Shirish Jajodia

Translation: the market isn’t feeling it yet.

But exchange reserves keep draining, and once that dry powder hits, history says supply shocks only end one way.

Less Bitcoin. More buyers. Price goes vertical. 🚀

OUT-RETURN BITCOIN THIS CYCLE 🚀

CNP1

“First Bitcoin runs. Then ETH… ETH/BTC is sitting at historic range lows… you’ve got the strongest setup we’ve ever seen for Ethereum.

Crypto Nutshell Pro #37 - July 11th

That’s what we told Pro members back in July.

Since then:

  • Ethereum is up +78.5%

  • Bitcoin is down -5.10%

Not too shabby.

Ethereum hasn’t just followed Bitcoin, it’s outperformed it, exactly as we predicted.

Right now, Crypto Nutshell Pro is closed.

It’s been closed for months. We cap the group purpose, to keep the alpha as high as possible.

But later this week, we’ll be opening the doors to 25 new Crypto Nutshell Pro members.

HODL AND TOUCH GRASS 🌾

Raoul Pal just dropped a much-needed reminder for anyone stressing about September dips:

Crypto adoption is still running at twice the speed of the internet in its early days. 📈

rpaul1

In case you forgot, here’s the adoption of crypto vs the adoption of the internet:

rpaul123

We’re on track to hit 4 billion users by 2030. 🌍

Raoul argues that growth alone takes the market from today’s $4 trillion to around $100 trillion by 2032-2034. 💰

The drivers of this adoption?

2 unstoppable trends:

Adoption (network effect, compounding faster than anyone expects)
Currency Debasement (90% of price action can be explained by monetary inflation)

And yet, most people are worried about whether September is weak or not.

Raoul’s take?

“Just sit in the waiting room, HODL, and touch grass. It will all play out with or without your endless fretting.

Raoul Pal

Zoom out.

The short-term noise doesn’t matter.

The long-term setup is bigger than ever. 🛸

WHAT ARE LONG-TERM HOLDERS DOING? 📉

Time for a check-in on the Long/Short-Term Holder Threshold.

Here’s how this metric works:

  • 🔴 Short-Term Holders (STHs): Coins held for less than 155 days

  • 🔵 Long-Term Holders (LTHs): Coins held for more than 155 days

  • 🟥 Short-Term Holder Cost Basis: All coins purchased in this price range are STHs

  • 🟦 Long-Term Holder Cost Basis: All coins purchased in this price range are LTHs

This metric is powerful because it shows exactly what price range long and short term holders bought their Bitcoin at. 🔍

onchain

The new key cutoff date is March 29, 2025 - when Bitcoin was hovering near $83K.

Anything bought before that? Long-term (LTH).
After? Short-term (STH).

Here’s the breakdown:

  • LTHs: 14.42M BTC → 72.42% of supply

  • STHs: 2.61M BTC → 13.11% of supply

Over the past two weeks, long-term holders unloaded a net 141,397 BTC — likely some profit-taking ahead of crypto’s historically rough September.

But let’s keep perspective: more than 70% of all Bitcoin is still locked up in long-term hands.

That’s massive. Conviction hasn’t gone anywhere - the base remains rock solid. 🚀
