THE HALVING IS HERE ✂️
BREAKING: Bitcoin halving hype breaks week-long ETFs outflow streak

Bitcoin just underwent its fourth halving! 🥳 🥳
The block reward for miners has now been decreased from 6.25 BTC per mined block, down to 3.125 BTC.
This means that the daily rate of new Bitcoin entering the supply has also decreased from 900/day down to 450/day.
This will continue every 4 years until Bitcoin reaches it’s supply cap of 21 million BTC. (estimated to happen roughly in 2140)

Bitcoin block reward throughout the years
The last 3 halvings occurred in 2012, 2016 and 2020. And each preceded HUGE rallies in Bitcoin’s price.
That’s why the crypto community is so hyped for the halving.
Going off past performance, we can expect positive price action for the next 12 - 18 months.
BUT there’s 1 reason for why this halving is extra special.
For the first time ever, Bitcoin is now verifiably more scarce than gold…

Bitcoin is now factually, the hardest money on earth.

Alternative way to think about the halvings impact
The next 12-18 months are going to be wild. 🎢

THE IMF VALIDATES BITCOIN 👨⚖️
One of the most common criticisms against Bitcoin is that it’s only use case is for criminal activity…
Well, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) just published a report proving that’s far from the truth.
Let’s break it down.

Bitcoin as a hedge against global uncertainty
The IMF’s study provides evidence that increased Bitcoin activity occurs as investors move away from risk assets.
"An increase in the VIX is associated with higher Chainalysis inflows and outflows. This significant, positive response may reflect increased activity via the Bitcoin market as investors move away from risk assets."
(VIX is the volatility index, also known as the “fear gauge”)
Despite what many say, Bitcoin is looked at as a “risk-off” asset.
Bitcoin is used to flee instability in local economies
The IMF’s study concludes that people are turning to Bitcoin to get around capital controls. (oppressive Governments)
“Cross-border outflows are positively correlated with a Bitcoin parallel premium, which we interpret as a broader proxy for exchange rate pressures, reflecting macroeconomic imbalances… This finding indicates that Bitcoin may be used to circumvent capital controls.”
Bitcoin is clearly being used for its intended purpose - censorship resistant money.
Bitcoin flows are larger in emerging and developing markets
The IMF’s study concludes that Bitcoin flows are typically larger in developing markets compared to advanced economies.
Countries with the largest Bitcoin flows:
Seychelles
Venezuela
Moldova
Nigeria
Central African Republic
A common theme shared by all of these countries is a high rate of currency debasement.
Sounds like people are turning to Bitcoin as a safe haven asset.
So despite what Gary Gensler and Elizabeth Warren are saying, Bitcoin’s biggest use case is NOT criminal activity…
It’s protecting your wealth. 🔒

BITCOIN IS POPPING OFF 💪
Today we’ll be taking a look at the number of addresses with a non-zero balance.
It provides a high level overview of the Bitcoin network’s user base/activity.
But it’s important to understand that one wallet does not equal one user. A user can have many wallets.
What matters here is the trend of the chart.
Increasing number of addresses: increasing adoption levels 📈
Decreasing number of addresses: indicates users are selling their entire balance or consolidating wallets 📉

Notice how this chart has always been trending upwards?
A clear sign that the Bitcoin Network has expanded every single year.
However, every now and then, this metric dips. As Bitcoin approaches new all-time highs, some investors decide to take profits. (but these dips are tiny in the grand scheme of things)
As of today there are 52,092,112 addresses with a positive balance.
Two weeks ago this metric was at 51,189,548 wallets.
That’s an increase of +902,564 wallets.
The likely reason for this insane growth over the past two weeks is the rise of Bitcoin Ordinals & Runes.
Ordinals are basically NFTs on Bitcoin.
And Runes allow the creation of memecoins and other tokens on Bitcoin.
If you’d like to learn more about Ordinals & Runes, click here.
Simple takeaway from this data:
The use-cases of Bitcoin are still growing, 15 years into its existence.
Bitcoin network growth = higher prices.
