SEC HACKER ARRESTED 🏦 

BREAKING: FBI Arrests Alleged SEC Hacker Linked to Fake Tweet Saying Bitcoin ETFs Were Approved

Do you remember how wild the launch of the Bitcoin ETFs was?

Do you remember when the SEC’s Twitter account was hacked - posting a fake announcement that the ETFs were approved?

Well the FBI just arrested an Alabama man that they believe was responsible for this hack.

Eric Council Jr. was charged with “conspiracy to commit aggravated identity theft and access device fraud” according to a statement.

Here’s the fake Tweet that was posted after the SEC’s account was hacked:

And almost immediately after this Tweet, the price of BTC shot up by more than $1,000…

However, 15 minutes after the hack, SEC Chair Gary Gensler put out a statement saying that the SEC’s account had been hacked.

Funnily enough, a day after this incident the SEC did actually approve the Bitcoin ETFs…

But that begs the question:

How was the SEC’s Twitter account hacked?

Well, according to the FBI’s statement, the SEC’s account was hacked through a SIM swap.

A SIM swap hack is when a hacker tricks a mobile carrier into transferring your phone number to a SIM card they control.

After the fake announcement was posted, Council (the hacker) received payment in Bitcoin.

But here’s the funny part…

After the hack, Council allegedly googled:

• “How can I know for sure if I am being investigated by the FBI.”

• “What are the signs that you are under investigation by law enforcement or the FBI even if you have not been contacted by them.”

The launch of the Bitcoin ETFs was truly a crazy time…

That’s the message out from out macroeconomic analyst, Pentoshi.

Pentoshi is a technical analyst who regularly posts his charts, trades, and macro predictions on X.

Looking at the Bitcoin chart, he’s not wrong. Bitcoin has been ranging for 8-months between $60,000 - $70,000, so close to its all-time high.

As the saying goes…

Today we’ll be taking a look at the amount of wallets that hold at least some Bitcoin. (anything greater than 0)

This metric provides a high level overview of the Bitcoin network’s user base/activity.

But there’s a slight catch…

One wallet does not equal one user. A user can have many wallets.

What matters here is the trend of the chart.

• Increasing number of addresses: increasing adoption levels 📈

• Decreasing number of addresses: indicates users are selling their entire balance or consolidating wallets 📉

As of today there are 52,654,344 addresses holding at least a little Bitcoin.

The past month has seen this metric increase by 185,673 wallets.

And check this out…

Year-to-date, this metric has increased by 933,206 wallets.

An increase of almost 1 million wallets is HUGE.

And you’ll also notice that the trend of this chart is basically only up and to the right…

Which leads to a simple takeaway:

Every single year, Bitcoin adoption levels continue to rise.

Coinbase Says Bitcoin Liquidity on Exchange Unfazed After SEC's Lawsuit Against Cumberland. Paris-based Kaiko pointed to a notable drop in 2% BTC market depth on Coinbase in a report early this week.

Crypto pundits decry World Liberty Financial's lackluster sales, calling it 'a meme masquerading as a utility project'. The project's public token sale generated under $10 million on its first day.
