BREAKING: Bitcoin was the best investment of 2024

2024 is now over…

And surprise surprise…

Bitcoin was by far the best performing asset class of 2024:

Bitcoin started 2024 at around $40,000 and surged all the way to a new all-time high of $108,268.

What a year…

But the biggest story of 2024 was the launch of the Bitcoin ETFs back in January. (We’ve been waiting ~10 years for these)

Throughout the year, the ETFs bought in ~$36 billion despite over $21 billion in outflows from Grayscale.

These numbers are nuts…

But let’s put them into even more context.

2024 saw the launch of over 730 different ETFs.

Four of the top five by inflows were spot Bitcoin ETFs.

Whilst 10 of the 12 Bitcoin ETFs find themselves in the top 50 new launches.

And here’s where it gets real crazy…

BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) overtook its gold ETF (IAU) in assets. Check out the chart below.

But what makes this stat truly insane is that IAU began trading back in January 2005. (A 20 year headstart)

And IBIT has now blown past it by over $20 billion. 🤯 

2024 was only year 1 of institutional adoption…

The secret to winning with Bitcoin is so simple:

Just hold it for 4 years. That’s it.

That’s the latest message out from investing legend, Larry Lepard.

For those unfamiliar with Larry, he’s:

• Graduated from Harvard, with 40+ years of investing experience 🎓

• Huge sound money advocate (money that can’t be printed) 🔒

In his latest interview, Lepard shared some timeless advice for anyone considering Bitcoin:

It’s all about the long game.

Larry has been through it all—buying Bitcoin at $400, $9,000, and even $60,000+.

He’s ridden the rollercoaster of highs and lows, from explosive bull runs to gut-wrenching crashes.

His secret? Patience.

All you need to do is hold for 4+ years:

Larry isn’t wrong.

Despite its volatility, no one who has held Bitcoin for over 4 years has lost money:

Bitcoin is a game of conviction and endurance.

As Lepard puts it:

So, how do you win with Bitcoin?

The answer is simple: Just hold it for at least 4 years.

THE SURGE CONTINUES 📈

Today we’ll be taking a look the overall stablecoin supply.

Stablecoins are often used on centralized and decentralized exchanges to purchase other digital assets. And allow the instant transfer of money between borders.

The chart below tracks the aggregate change in the total stablecoin market cap.

• 🟢 Increased stablecoin supply: increased demand and capital inflows into the digital asset space 🐂

• 🔴 Contractions in stablecoin supply: net capital outflows from digital assets 🐻

The last time we checked in on this metric, the stablecoin market cap was ~$188.36 billion. (18th of December)

Today the aggregate stablecoin market cap is ~$0.16 billion. 📈

That’s a minor increase of ~$8.4 billion in the last two weeks.

But here’s the thing…

2024 was a HUGE year for the stablecoin market.

Over 2024, the stablecoin market cap increased by ~$63.27 billion.

Capital is now well and truly pouring back into the crypto industry. (Expect to see this metric continue rising throughout 2025)

Here’s the simple takeaway:

This is one of the most important metrics for an altcoin bull run.

More liquidity = Larger potential pumps 😎 

CRACKING CRYPTO 🥜

Coinbase CEO urges X to embrace USDC for payment integration. Coinbase's push for USDC payments on X could accelerate its transformation into a multifunctional platform.

Ether Seen Outperforming Bitcoin in 2025, Steno Research Says. Ether could more than double in price next year and reach at least $8,000, the report said.
